I hope all of you who are able will spend quality time today with your mother — or at the very least, call her and tell her you love her.
I don't have the opportunity to be with my mother today, since we're in different states, but I hope she knows how much I love her and cherish the time that we do get to spend together. I don't say it nearly often enough!
I see my mom in a new light now that I'm married and closer than ever to having children of my own! She made so many sacrifices to be there for my brother and me as a stay-at-home mom. Both of my parents gave us a great life. Looking back on my upbringing with the perspective of adulthood, I see just how blessed Thomas and I really are. I hope to one day be half the mother mine has been.
Also, a very happy mother's day to my new mom, Rita! She's the best M-I-L (even though we don't use that term!) that a girl could ask for!! She's warm and encouraging, positive and thoughtful — and she'd do anything for the people she loves (and, heck, even for strangers!). I've only known her since fall 2009, but she already occupies a very special place in my heart.
Much love to my moms on this special day!
