We're starting to kick around a few ideas for home improvement solutions to our mudroom.
We use the room as our primary entrance, which means it's often the first impression visitors get of our house. Right now, that impression isn't a good one.
Here's what we're working with:
Many, many ideas later, we think we've decided to build a small breakfast nook under the windows to utilize some of the space. Also, we're thinking about adding a custom unit with coat hooks to have a handy place to hide our dirty shoes. In addition to being functional, it would help us cover the sheet rock that remains exposed from when we closed in the original doorway in order to make room for a fridge in our kitchen.
Now, where do we go from here? The inception of a new project terrifies me. I'm certain I'm going to overlook something obvious and ruin everything — not to mention waste a lot of our hard-earned money.
Can we do this project ourselves — do they carry these materials at Lowe's? Or, do we call in the professionals?? We seriously need to retain a contractor for all of the projects I have lined up....
Anyway, I'm still in the research phase. Here a few of the pictures I've gathered to spur me onward!

Can you totally see all this in our mudroom?? I can! Please feel free to message me with your suggestions!!!!!!!
P.S. I also want to do some hardscaping in the backyard...does anyone have a palette of bricks laying around!?!? I'll give you a dollar...
